Research Project | Developing Agile Operation Response Framework for Public Health emergencies in Burundi |
Biography | Mr. Olivier Kamatari is a PhD candidate at the University of Burundi, where his research focuses on designing an Agile Operational Response Framework tailored to managing public health emergencies in Burundi. He holds a master’s degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics and a bachelor’s in human biology, equipping him with strong analytical skills in disease monitoring and control. Since joining the Ministry of Health in 2021, Olivier has played a central role in the COVID-19 response at the Public Health Emergency Operations Center (PHEOC), while also contributing to the management of outbreaks such as cholera, measles, polio, conjunctivitis, and mpox. His work leverages epidemiological data to inform and improve strategic interventions. Fluent in French and English, Olivier collaborates with a broad network of national and international actors, including government institutions, NGOs, and global agencies. He is known for effectively communicating complex statistical insights, supporting informed decision-making in areas such as vaccine distribution, community transmission, and environmental health challenges. Currently working with the World Health Organization (WHO) in Burundi, Olivier continues to contribute to national and global public health efforts. His commitment to applying biostatistical expertise in real-world health crises makes him a valuable figure in multidisciplinary response teams. |
