Research Project Transmission Dynamics of HIV/AIDS infection in Burundi
Biography Mr. Benoit Havyarimana is a PhD candidate at the Doctoral School of the University of Burundi, with a concentration in Epidemiology. His doctoral research centers on modeling the epidemiological patterns of HIV infection in Burundi, building on a strong academic foundation in mathematical sciences. He earned a master’s degree in fundamental and applied mathematics from the same institution, where his thesis focused on modeling the progression of HIV. After completing his master’s degree, Benoit served as a temporary lecturer at Livingstone University College, University of Burundi, contributing to both instruction and academic development. He also undertook a nine-month internship at the National AIDS Control Program (PNLS), where he worked in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Care services for individuals living with HIV. This experience provided him with practical training in epidemiological data analysis and broadened his perspective on public health surveillance and program evaluation. His combined expertise in teaching, mathematical modeling, and hands-on public health work has honed his analytical skills and deepened his commitment to HIV research. Benoit is currently focused on finalizing his PhD and aims to make a significant contribution to understanding and controlling HIV transmission dynamics in Burundi through evidence-based epidemiological approaches.
