Research Project Chemical pollutants association with antibiotic resistant genes (ARGs) transmission at the interfaces of One-Health sectors in the Tanganyika Lake Basin
Biography Dr. Christian Ahadi Irenge is a public health and pharmacy professional who’s academic and research journey spans multiple disciplines. He holds a Master of Public Health in Integrated Management of Health Risks from the University of Liège (2020), where he explored the roles of individual and collective responsibility in implementing COVID-19 response strategies in Atakora, Benin. Prior to this, he earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Official University of Bukavu (2018), completing a thesis on the characterization and in vitro susceptibility of multidrug-resistant bacteria isolated from Bukavu hospitals. Christian has developed valuable teaching and research experience at both the Official University of Bukavu and the University Clinics of Bukavu, contributing to academic advancement and strengthening clinical practice. Currently engaged in doctoral studies, his research focuses on how chemical pollutants influence the transmission of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) within interconnected One Health environments across the Tanganyika Lake Basin. By combining insights from pharmacy, public health, and environmental health, Christian aims to address antimicrobial resistance through an integrated lens that reflects real-world complexity. His interdisciplinary expertise equips him to contribute to evidence-based policymaking and innovative research tackling global health challenges across human, animal, and environmental domains.
